8th October 2K8, Wednesday – Evening.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Today I was approached by a member of the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Malaysia organization, asking if I’d like to contribute and support their funds for Malaysia’s natural environment.

At first I was a little dumbfounded for I had my mind else where and did not give much attention the man who was talking to me. But until he brought up the topic about the Malaysia’s natural resources and habitats, my attention was immediately recaptured.

I have more feelings for animals compared to human beings and if I there’s a donation needed for the animals, I am more than willing to help.

However, it’s a monthly commitment and the payment has to be process via credit card/bank, which is something I’ve never done before.

After reconsidering the whole proposition and details, I decided, “What the heck? Fuck beggars, save the animals and trees! This is a noble deed”. So I gave my particulars and was willing to contribute. Unfortunately, I found out that I’m considered underage to make such a commitment.

Apparently, I have to be 21 years old. (Laughs) So I couldn’t sign up.

WWF Logo (I found this picture via Google)

Anyway, right now I may not be able to help financially but the least I can do is dedicate an entry for the sake of our natural habitats and animals.

First let me ask you:

Did you know…?

In the 1950′s there were about 2990 tigers in our (Malaysia) forest, but today — we have only about 500 left?

4 out of 7 species of marine turtles in the world land and lay their eggs on Malaysian beaches however, only 1 out of 10,000 hatchlings survive long enough to become an adult?

WWF Malaysia is a national conservation trust and is a non-profit as well as non-governmental organisation?

If you don’t know these 3 simple knowledge, I’d say shame on you. But if you do know that we’re losing our natural habitats and not taking any action to protest or contribute, that’s double-shame on you.

Who am I to say this? I’ll talk about that later.

Now…

Why is it that there are some people making a fuss about saving our natural environment while others remain nonchalant and ignorant about this issue?

You see, the one major aspect that divides these category of people is their perspective of the future.

The green lovers appreciates mother nature because they are wary about the crisis that may occur once mother nature is in grave danger. Just imagine if our ocean and rivers are polluted, where can we get water?

Although we have excellent as well as promising technology at our disposal, how much can man-made products and solutions help us to replace the richness of mother nature?

Let’s just say all our trees are cut down and burn… How are we to breath? Do you even remember what we learned in school about burning the forest?

In short, green lovers are aware of the consequences.

The ignorant group, on the other hand — do not realize the consequences. They are either not attentive to this issue OR just couldn’t be bothered. By knowledge, they know what will happen however they don’t feel the pinch like the green lovers because they have not seen with their own eyes the results of destroying mother nature.

Here’s an example as a relation: A girl cries over the loss of her loved ones and attempts to commit suicide. I, as the third party, can’t seem to feel or be in her shoes because I’ve never been in a relationship before. Thus, I don’t give a damn. Then comes along another girl who seems to understand the frustration of the suicidal girl although she has never lost her loved ones before. How can she understand? Well, simply because she thinks ahead and inputs herself in the situation.

It’s the same for green lovers.

They are thinking about their children and their future generation. As for the ignorant people, it’s not like we visit the zoo everyday, right?

Yes.. We don’t visit the zoo everyday and as adults, you have better things to do than petting giraffes and watch the fishes swim in awe.

Then again…

Visualize this: In time to come, your children wants to see tigers in Malaysia’s zoo. Instead of taking them to the zoo, you end up visiting the tigers in the museum. How will you answer to your children when they ask why the tigers in Malaysia are all bones and how come last time there were lived tigers?

Sure you can say, “Because Malaysians are stupid and they love to kill animals for their own benefits”.

But how are you going to answer if your children ask you,“Why didn’t you do something about it?”

With that, you have to depend on your charisma to answer those questions to your innocent children.

[ . . . ]

This article whole entry is based on my opinions and presumptions. I’d love to write and deliver more facts but too bad I can’t because I’ve not been exposed totally to this organisation and their events.

Perhaps if I have a chance to attend their events, I would be able to absorb more precise information.

But if you want to know more about Malaysia’s WWF, please visit their website at http://www.wwf.org.my/

And as for those who have read this far and endured my lousy writing skills —

Do you have any ticks on this topic? (Laughs)

PS: I know I’m an irrelevant human being who is a nobody to the society. But since I’m underage to contribute financially, this is the least I can do. <;__;> (Cries)

PSS: Sorry I don’t have any pictures for this article. I don’t intend to plagiarise. (Laughs) Oh wait — Here’s one: ↓
